Financial consultant and caring citizen Joseph Elefante leads the Guardsmen, the Bay Area charitable group founded in 1947 to enrich the lives of at-risk youth. “Access to quality education and giving kids their first chance to be in nature are the goals,” he says of the organization’s all-volunteer efforts. Known for its popular charity events and holiday tree lots, the association raises more than $1 million in scholarship funds annually, which covers tuition for 250 disadvantaged children and sends some 2,500 more to outdoor camps each year. Elefante says, “Fellowship among our members—a group of skilled and bighearted professionals—is what makes it work.”
"It’s an incredible leadership experience that widens the horizon for youngsters across the bay area."
