Meet Cherie
Chances are, Cherie Slane knows someone you should meet. She’s a natural connector who brings over 25 years of experience in business development to her role as founder of Gold Collective. She views the art of creating intentional networks like Gold Collective as opportunities to make connections that not only open doors to meaningful business growth but also forge authentic friendships with people who feel like your people.
A Bay Area native, Cherie began her career in the art world and later worked in the publishing industry at leading titles including ARTnews, Surface, and San Francisco magazine, where she was fueled by a passion for sharing the stories of creative people she admires and linking ideas with potential audiences and collaborators.
Cherie’s enthusiasm for championing the work of others inspired her to found Gold Collective in 2017. She leverages her expertise in event strategy, industry networking, and creative partnerships—along with her vast reach of contacts across the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, and Los Angeles—to craft a custom plan for each member to achieve their business goals.

Our story
A Family Tradition
Founder Cherie Slane took inspiration for the Gold Collective from her grandfather, Jerry Cook, who pioneered his own small businesses in the Bay Area for more than 40 years. What began as a meat counter within a Castro District grocery store grew into a dedicated market in Mill Valley, Jerry’s Meats & Deli. Jerry eventually sold his namesake business to Whole Foods, which remains at the same location today.
Jerry’s example of warm customer service instilled in Cherie an appreciation for family businesses and the communities they serve, becoming the foundation of her calling to support entrepreneurs with similar ethics and philosophies.

Rhonda Campbell
Director of Operations
Creative and entrepreneur Rhonda Campbell is originally from Melbourne, Australia, and now calls Mill Valley home. Campbell found her way to publishing in London, where she lived for more than a decade in the 90s and founded the lifestyle magazine Living South. After selling the publication, she moved to the Bay Area and earned an interior design degree, honing her talents at Katharine Webster’s renowned landscape design firm. Most recently, Campbell created a retail space for the nonprofit Marin Art and Garden Center, which supports local artists and makers. Her current role as director of operations combines her love of design, business development, and community building.
