Carter Design is a bicoastal boutique interior design studio founded by the husband-and-wife team Genevieve White Carter and Cy Carter. Whether the project is a glass-and-steel mid-century modern home in the Hollywood Hills or an 18th-century clapboard in the Hamptons, Carter Design is known for taking an anthropological approach to the design process. The studio creates residential and commercial spaces that tease out the essence of their inhabitants through a savvy and spirited interchange of materials, art, and objects. After a decade of experience working in interior and architectural design for such luminaries as Commune Design, Pam Shamshiri, and Cliff Fong, Genevieve and Cy started their studio in 2010. They bring unique wit and wisdom to their interiors, enhanced by their wide network of artists, artisans, and makers. Light chasers and wonder wanderers, the Carters work on projects across the U.S. from their design studio based on the North Shore of Long Island.
